Macroom Dental Practice: A Century of Dental Excellence

By James Slattery and Sam McCarthy

Macroom Dental Practice has been an important part of the town's healthcare landscape for over 100 years. Founded by James Lynch in 1922, it marked the arrival of the first qualified dentist in Macroom. Since then, the practice has continuously evolved under the stewardship of dedicated professionals, leaving a deep-rooted mark on the community.

Following the passing of James Lynch, his son Donal, a proud past pupil of De La Salle, assumed the reins of the practice in 1950. For an impressive 28 years, Donal served as the sole dentist in Macroom, dedicating himself to the oral health of its residents. Over four decades, he diligently adapted to medical advancements and provided exceptional care to generations of Macroom's inhabitants.

In 1989, the responsibility of carrying on the practice's legacy fell to Tim Buckley, who eagerly embraced the opportunity to run his own business. Tim, recognising the significance of assembling a capable team, emphasised the importance of having good staff. Presently, the practice employs a total of 19 professionals who work together to create a welcoming environment and provide reliable service to their valued customers.

Macroom holds a special place in Tim's heart as it is his birthplace, and the unwavering support of the community has been instrumental in the practice's success. Centrally located in Middle Square, the dental practice is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and advanced equipment, ensuring that Tim and his team can deliver the highest quality dental care to their patients.

For aspiring entrepreneurs, Tim offers great advice based on his experience. He highlights the importance of thorough research before embarking on a business venture and underscores the value of seeking guidance and assistance whenever needed. Tim's journey serves as proof of the rewards that come with dedication and a commitment to excellence.

Macroom Dental Practice stands as a tribute to the enduring legacy of its founders and the unwavering dedication of its successors. With over a century of service, the practice continues to play a vital role in the oral health and well-being of the Macroom community.

Enhance Your Natural Beauty with Subtle Aesthetic Treatments

At Macroom Dental Practice, we specialise in subtle, natural-looking facial aesthetic treatments
designed to refresh, rejuvenate, and enhance your unique features. Our expert, minimally
invasive approach ensures you look vibrant and radiant—never overdone. Whether you're
aiming to soften fine lines, restore lost volume, or improve skin quality, we focus on achieving
beautifully understated results that harmonise perfectly with your natural expressions.

Anti-Wrinkle & Advanced Treatments – Smooth, Natural Results
Fine lines and wrinkles are a natural part of ageing, but with our expertly administered
anti-wrinkle injections, we can soften their appearance while preserving your authentic
expressions.

Standard Anti-Wrinkle Treatment Areas:
Forehead Lines – Smooth horizontal lines while maintaining natural movement.
Frown Lines (Glabellar Lines) – Diminish the "11" lines between your brows without affecting
expression.
Crow’s Feet – Gently soften fine lines around the eyes while preserving natural movement.
Bunny Lines – Minimise lines on the nose for a more refined look.
Lip Flip – A delicate enhancement that relaxes the upper lip, creating the illusion of fuller lips
without added volume.

Advanced Anti-Wrinkle Treatments:
For those seeking additional refinement, we offer advanced treatments that gently lift and
reshape your features while ensuring your facial expressions remain natural and effortless:
DAO Treatment – Lifts downturned mouth corners for a more neutral, relaxed expression.
Nefertiti Neck Lift – Softens neck bands and defines the jawline for a smoother, youthful
profile.
Brow Lift – Opens up the eyes for a subtly refreshed appearance.
Gummy Smile Treatment – Softens an overactive upper lip to reduce gum exposure while
maintaining a natural smile.
Depressor Nasalis – Reduces nasal tip drooping during smiles.
Jelly Roll Treatment – Softens under-eye bags for a more rested look.
Smoker’s Lines – Minimises fine lines around the lips for a smoother appearance.
Mentalis (Chin Dimpling Treatment) – Reduces chin dimpling for a more balanced profile.
Hyperhidrosis Treatment (Underarm Sweating) – Alleviates excessive sweating for
long-lasting comfort and dryness.

Masseter Bruxism Treatment – Relief from Jaw Tension & Facial Slimming
Our Masseter Botox treatment effectively addresses bruxism (teeth grinding and clenching),
alleviating jaw pain, headaches, and excessive tooth wear. This treatment relaxes the
overactive masseter muscle, reducing tension while maintaining normal function.

Benefits of Masseter Botox for Bruxism:
Reduces Jaw Tension and Pain – Eases discomfort from excessive clenching and grinding.
Prevents Tooth Damage – Protects teeth from premature wear and fractures.
Alleviates Tension Headaches – Relieves strain from jaw muscle overuse.
Enhances Facial Harmony – Softens the jawline for a naturally contoured and balanced
appearance.

Ideal for patients with strong jaw muscles and those looking to achieve a softer jawline, results
develop gradually over a few weeks and last approximately 3-6 months.

Skin Boosters – Hydration & Subtle Rejuvenation
Our skin boosters work beneath the surface to enhance skin quality, improving hydration,
elasticity, and radiance for a naturally healthy glow.

Profhilo® – Deep Hydration & Subtle Firming
A revolutionary hyaluronic acid treatment that deeply hydrates the skin and stimulates collagen
production for a dewy, fresh-faced look.

Sunekos® – Naturally Stimulating Skin Repair
This unique combination of hyaluronic acid and amino acids regenerates the skin, improving
fine lines and elasticity without adding volume.

Plinest® Polynucleotides – Gentle Skin Regeneration
A cutting-edge treatment that supports natural tissue repair and collagen production, leaving
your skin refreshed, firmer, and more youthful.

Dermal Fillers – Restoring Soft, Natural Volume
Volume loss can lead to hollowing and sagging, but expertly placed dermal fillers can restore
structure in a way that feels and looks completely natural.
Lips – Subtle definition and hydration for a naturally plump look.
Cheeks – Gently restore volume for a soft lift.
Temples – Smooth out hollowing for a more youthful balance.
Nasolabial Folds & Marionette Lines – Soften deep creases without an overfilled appearance.
Jawline & Chin – Define and refine your natural contours without heaviness.
